When They Were Very Young – Warren William Baby Picture

By Cliff Aliperti 5 Comments

Press photo date stamped June 30, 1933 from the “When They Were Very Young” series of snaps.

Press tag on back describes image as follows:

“Ten guesses and then you’ll never guess that this youngster is Warren William of screen fame. You’ll see him in Warner’s Gold Diggers of 1933 and then Goodbye Again.”

Coming along with Baby Krech as part of the same purchase was the following promotional photo for The Dragon Murder Case (1934) showing off a more mature Warren:

… Just 36 more days until Warren William day on TCM!

Hoping to put together something substantial on Lady for a Day (1933) before it airs on August 30. Somehow I haven’t covered that one yet. It might possibly even be another dual post with more specialized Dave the Dude content appearing here and a more general view of the movie at Immortal Ephemera.

I’ve also been taking some notes on The Mind Reader (1933), which I have covered here before but more as a teaser and not as one of my more detailed posts.

Those are the plans at least, we’ll see what happens! Talk to you soon —

OMG! I love this. He had a handsome mug even as a little baby.

You must be so excited for Warren William day on TCM SUTS! I can see you are even counting down the days. 🙂 I’m hoping to get TCM for SUTS and if I can I would be looking forward to Warren William films.

Can’t wait, Raquel, and it’s such a great line-up this year (I think I say that every year!). Sounds like your own SUTS clock is ticking … we’re getting close!

Two great pics! Warren can pull off the straw boater better than anyone I’ve ever seen! I think I’m taking August 30th off, maybe even hosting a few friends who can pop by for the 24 hour Krech-apalooza. Maybe I can even prepare a cake in the shape of his profile…

John, I thought I had a hell of a find until I saw the same pic in your book! Still, nice to have one … now, if I could only get that bust of Caesar I’d call it a day!

I’m not sure yet what I’m doing August 30, but I get the feeling it may involve staying up for 24 hours. Live blogging? Live tweeting? Definitely going to try to be around online to point any new fans to the “right” titles!

PS: Did you catch the post I did on Immortal Ephemera which finally recasts Warren in the role of Gordon Gekko? I was a little short on time so it wasn’t as Warren-centric as originally planned (thus I put it on the other site), but I had a fun time putting it together: http://immortalephemera.com/21005/great-recasting-blogathon-wall-street-1933/
