[phpbaysidebar title=”Related eBay Goods:” keywords=”Warren William,Lili Damita,Lily Damita,The Match King” num=”5″ siteid=”1″ category=”45100″ sort=”StartTimeNewest” minprice=”19″ maxprice=”500″ id=”2″]Just a quick alert that TCM is airing a trio of Lili Damita pre-code movies Sunday night with The Match King slotted right in the middle at 9:30 pm EST.

Sunday night, January 9, 2011, 9:30 pm EST, The Match King starring Warren William, Lili Damita.

I wrote about The Match King over a year ago. Glancing at it I don’t think I put any specific spoilers in there, so first time viewers are welcome to read it as an into to what should be a can’t miss viewing for them. This is pre-code Warren William pretty much at his most depraved, folks, be sure to check it out!

“Never worry about anything until it happens. And I’ll take care of it then.” – Paul Kroll, The Match King

If you’re near Astoria, NY and would like a chance to catch The Match King on the big screen it’s playing Friday, February 4 at the Museum of the Moving Image as part of their Recovered Treasures series. The Museum of the Moving Image is located on 35th Avenue at 37th Street in Astoria.

THE MATCH KING features one of my favorite Warren William performances. I only wish the title was better (although it’s certainly apprpropriately descriptive).

Hey Rick, almost missed your comment (It didn’t send to my email for some reason!).

I like the title on this one. I have a feeling if they went another way it would have only gotten more descriptive like “The Ivar Krueger Story.” What do you like for a title?

Hm … maybe “The Match King” will sneak into Warner Archives release as part of a Lili Damita set…

Jeffers, I’m going to take that the way I read it, heaping with sarcasm, then I’m going to sigh and agree with you.
