Rick29 - Thanks my friend. Curious Bride is up next sometime in March, I remember it fondly so I'm really looking forward to it! I recall Lucky Legs as my favorite, so I hope to cover them in rapid succession.

Jeffers - Hey pal, ironic then that this Warren William fan prefers his lighter Masons that follow. As long as he doesn't plant a howling dog outside of that closed shop all should be well in the neighborhood!

Thanks, Cliff

I would never have seen THE CASE OF THE HOWLING DOG, and thus never have discovered Warren William, had I not been a lifelong fan of the Raymond Burr TV series (especially the early seasons). In its early days, TNT ran a late-night triple feature of HOWLING DOG along with BLACK CAT (with Ricardo Cortez and a not-black cat!) and STUTTERING BISHOP (with Donald Wood). Of all the Warners Masons, these three most resemble the TV series with regard to the "set-up" (introduction of that particular installment's plot and characters), though of course Mason and his team are handled quite differently. After seeing those three, I was ready for more, and eventually TNT ran the other three Warren William Masons. Those aren't much like the TV show at all, but after them, I was more interested in seeing more Warren William than I was in seeing more Perry Mason!

One would not think it possible to confuse Warren William and Raymond Burr in any context except maybe a listing of Perry Mason outings, but when I first came across a copy of WW's TIMES SQUARE PLAYBOY for sale online, the photo illustrating the plot description was of Raymond Burr!

There is a small service garage near here which has been closed for years but which the owner will neither sell nor tear down (which one would think would lower property taxes). I think of Clinton Foley's garage every time I pass it ...

Nice review! I thought Warren was very good as Perry in all the films in the series. The one I remember best is THE CASE OF THE CURIOUS BRIDE. Not only did it have Errol Flynn in a bit part, but Paul Drake became Spudsy Drake and was played for humor by Allen Jenkins!
